New study finds trend to positive outcomes in industry trials. A study by US and Canadian researchers has once again underlined the need for wide-ranging transparency in the publication of clinical trials and their outcomes.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ: TEVA) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of ratiopharm, Germany's second largest generics producer. Following the acquisition, Teva will be the number one generic company in Europe, holding the leading market position in ten countries, as well as ranking in the top three in seven additional countries. In addition, the transaction will significantly increase Teva's sales in Canada.

In 2011, 40% of the highest-selling drugs will be products whose patent protection has either already expired or will do so in the coming two years, according to an analysis by Accenture.
